Horse Rides and Camp

For a memorable experience, climb into the saddle and explore Boulder Creek Ranch and the surrounding national forest with a guided trail ride.

This is a truly enjoyable way to breath deep of country air, see wildlife, and savor an experience you’ll talk about for a long time. We don’t run a rodeo out here, so don’t plan on being a galloping cowboy racing across the meadows. Our first interest is that you have a safe and comfortable time on horseback.

Even if you have little to no experience on a horse, our gentle geldings will take good care of you. We require helmets for those riders under 18 (sorry, no children under 10) and provide them for adults.

By appointment, we offer a one-hour ride through the ranch and a two-hour ride through the ranch and up Big Boulder Creek into the Malheur National Forest. We are happy to customize rides for you as well. Want to stop and lunch amid the tall Ponderosa pines? We can make that happen. We also allow visitors to bring their own horses.

We can provide temporary corrals and everything you need to use Boulder Creek Ranch as a base camp for your own exploring.

Horse Rides: $45 for the first hour, $25 per hour after that.

Horse Camp: $10 per day.

Schedule: Call for availability and to schedule your ride.

Bicycling

Boulder Creek Ranch is situated along what is becoming one of America’s premier bicycle riding routes – The Old West Scenic Bikeway.

This loop route takes you through a variety of country — along rivers, along cattle ranches, and a few climbs just to keep you in shape.

Boulder Creek Ranch is an ideal overnight stop along this route. We stock emergency bike repair supplies, floor pumps and the spare tubes.

After a day of pedaling, the ranch offers wonderful afternoon diversions. Hike up Big Boulder Creek and wade on in. Sit in the shade at the cabin and snooze, read, or just watch the animals.

We can handle groups that want to use the cabin, the sheep wagon and even pitch a tent. We have RV hookups for those all-important support vehicles. Riders also have found Boulder Creek Ranch a good place to stage. Park your vehicle here and leave any worry behind.

The owners are experienced cyclists, so we can help you with plenty of information about riding in this country – recommended stops, the grade on the climbs you’ll face, where you’ll need to stock extra water. All that is just a call away, so grab your bike and prepare for one of the best cycling experiences of your life.
